The Britannia – Environmental Focus

Our Environmental Aims

We want to make our business have the smallest possible impact on the environment and world we live in, therefore, wherever possible we do our very best to protect the environment and local economy.

We routinely review our practices as a business, which allows us to pick up on any ways we can reduce the negative impact we have on the environment. Our biggest source of waste is the take away boxes we use. To ensure that we’re as eco-friendly as possible, all of our take away boxes are made from cardboard – and easy to recycle. In addition to this, we ensure that we use the minimum appropriate amount of packaging, and recycle wherever possible.

The Last Straw

Thanks to the news, social media and television programs such as David Attenborough’s Blue Planet, more and more people are becoming aware of the issues surrounding plastic disposal.

Although David Attenborough’s voice may be relaxing, the devastating impact of plastic on our environment is not. According to a 2016 report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, only 14% of plastic is currently recycled – this means that the rest usually ends up strewn in the ocean or in landfill sites. That’s why we are stopping serving plastic straws, and switching to a biodegradable paper alternative.
